2017 Pava Player A-5 More Details
Poor man's Ellis, built by Pava Knezevic in the Ellis shop in Austin Tx. Second Blonde Pava Player we've had recently. Acquired in trade with another dealer, this is a brand new instrument, offered as pre-owned. It features a stunning blonde finish and one piece Maple back.

Specs; Adirondack Spruce top, flamed Red Maple one piece back, Red Maple sides and neck, blonde gloss lacquer finish and tortoise bound body. Radiused Ebony fretboard, parallel tone bars and gold hardware includes cast Allen tailpiece and Gotoh tuning gears and Mother-of-Pearl script headstock inlay.

Very impressive sound, right out of the box. Deep, woody and rich. Outstanding volume and a big bluegrass chop. Wish we had an Ellis currently, so that we could compare, but I suspect they'd sound quite similar.

New condition without flaw or blemish.

Includes Golden Gate case. Trades gladly considered on this fine made in America instrument.

Difficult to understand how an American made, solid wood mandolin that sounds as good as this one can be had for under $1500. A true bargain and an outstanding choice as a back-up or a step-up from a beginner.

Specs: solid Spruce, one piece Curly Maple back, Maple sides and neck in a traditional sunburst gloss lacquer finish, single-ply bindings throughout, flat Ebony fretboard and Mother-of-Pearl headtsock inlay. Nickel hardware includes cast tailpiece and Schaller tuning gears.

Sensational sounding mandolin, featuring a woody and dry tone. Sounds much richer than it's modest price tag. Awesome mid-range "pop" and nicely balanced. Excellent volume and killer chop. A fine bluegrass mandolin.

Excellent condition relative to age, but does show a few healthy dings in the top which do show in photos. Also shows some light pick marks and such. Some of the tuning gears are stiff. Frets recently dressed by Randy Wood.

Includes hard shell case.

It just doesn't get any better than this in the under $1K club. In fact, it rarely gets better in the under $4K club either! Sensational sounding mandolin with a radius fretboard and a lovely burst.

Specs; select solid Spruce top, flamed Maple back/sides/neck in a cremona sunburst gloss lacquer finish, 3-ply (w/b/w) bindings throughout, radius Ebony fretboard, tone bar bracing, Fleur-de-Lis headstock inlay and nickel hardware including Gotoh tuning machines.

Very powerful bluegrass mandolin that features a dry, woody tone. Responsive and nicely balanced with exceptional sustain and a banjo bustin' chop. We've had a lot of mandolins priced at $5K plus that don't sound as strong as this little gem.

Excellent condition. Top has some play wear with some finger nail scratches in the "pinky plant" zone and some light markings on the bass side from a Tone Gard. Bridge has been moved at some point to correct intonation and finish shows a "shadow" of original location. Very light, but it is there. Minor fret wear.

Includes Golden Gate hard shell case.
