2016 Chris Stanley V-5
2016 Chris Stanley V-5

It's probably been four or five years since mutt has had a Stanley mandolin and we'd forgotten what gems Chris builds. His mandolins are just straight up fabulous traditional, Loar style instruments. This recent example, s/n 76 features top shelf woods, excellent appointments and exceptional sound.

Specs: Adirondack Spruce top, highly figured one piece Maple back, Maple sides and neck in an iced tea burst varnished finish, 3-ply bindings throughout, flat Ebony fretboard, parallel tone bar bracing and an exquisite Abalone headstock inlay. Gold hardware includes an engraved James tailpiece and Grover 309 tuning machines.

Classic F-5 sound, warm and woody with exceptional mid-range "pop". Resonant and nicely balanced with a percussive chop and excellent volume. Poor man's Master Model.

Shows a couple light string scratches on the headstock and some minor clip-on tuner marks. Otherwise mint.

Includes a shaped TKL case. Trades gladly considered on this fine American made instrument.
