Animal!!!

2007 Weber Distressed Yellowstone ***SOLD***More Details
.
This is our second time around on this Weber. I sold her four years ago to a very good friend, a talented musician. As most of us do, he trades instruments often, but kept this mandolin a long time. You will not find a stronger Weber mandolin. Definitely the cream.

The Yellowstone Deluxe was the predecessor to the Weber Diamondbacks, a Mandolin Store exclusive. This particular instrument was built with an eighty year old Sitka Spruce top, flamed Maple back/sides/neck in a traditional tobacco sunburst satin finish. Body, fretboard and headstock are Ivoroid bound. Radiused Ebony fretboard with mother-of-pearl diamond position marks, cast tailpiece and Grover tuning machines.

One of the great things about a "distressed" mandolin is that the cosmetic condition just doesn't matter and you don't have to worry about blemishes and such, however this mandolin has been babied. Other than minor fret wear, she looks the same as the day she was shipped out.

Definitely has the "old school" look and feel, but more importantly, this mandolin sounds as "vintage" as she looks. Tons of deep woody and mid-range "pop". Quite traditional sounding. Responsive and very powerful.

Includes rectangular deluxe Weber case. Trades encouraged.

2004 Martin D-16GT
2004 Martin D-16GT

Sweet Hog!

2004 Martin D-16GTMore Details
.
My first real Martin was one of the D-16 models and I absolutely adored that axe. All in all, the 16's are difficult to beat. I mean, think about it, this is an American made, all solid wood instrument with stylish looks and pro sound, yet it won't break the bank. This is a whole lotta axe for the moolah!

Specs; wide grained Sitka Spruce gloss lacquer top, nicely figured Mahogany back/sides/neck in a Satin finish, single ply black bindings, Herringbone soundhole rosette, Ebony fretboard and bridge, scalloped braces, modified low oval neck, 1-11/16" nut width and so forth.

Terrific sound. Has a nice woody, well balanced voice and superb volume.

Excellent-plus condition overall. Has some light scratches and small blemishes here and there. Frets have minor wear. Has sound hole and a couple nicks on headstock edge.

Great choice for upgrading from a beginner or pac-rim guitar. Will hold it's own in parking lot jams and/or suitable for stage use or outdoor picking.

Includes Canadian (TKL Style) case.

The B-1 Masterpiece

1994 Paganoni F-5More Details
.
MandoMutt's very first Paganoni. This is Doyle Lawson model B-1, number DL5 and was formerly owned by Doyle and also Allan Bibey.

A remarkable instrument featuring; German Silver Spruce top, highly figured Maple back/sides/neck in a medium caramel sunburst varnish finish, 3-ply bindings top/back/headstock, single ivoroid bound fretboard.

Flat Ebony fretboard with scooped extension, Abalone Fern headstock inlay and chrome hardware including engraved traditional tailpiece and Gotoh tuning gears.

Extraordinary sound. Nothing sounds better than a great mandolin that's been played for thousands of hours and much of those hours were by two of the best. Nice dry tone that really pop's. This is an ideal bluegrass mandolin featuring a killer mid-range, even balance and solid chop.

Excellent-minus condition. Has some natural "distressing" with wear slightly into the wood where the arm rests and below the strings from some energetic pickin'. Body also has scratches and small dings. Headstock has an abundance of string scratches and such. Finish is somewhat worn on back of neck. Frets have slight wear.

Includes Paganoni case. Trades considered.

Built by Ben Wilcox in Ohio and Ben's got it figured out. He's building instruments that are as good as anybody out there and I'm talking any price range.

Here's the specs; Adirondack Spruce top in dark coffee bean brown finish, extremely figured Maple one piece back and Maple rims and neck in an amber, wheat colored Varnish finish. Triple bound body and headstock, single Ivoroid bound fretboard.

Other goodies include; radiused Ebony fretboard, engraved James tailpiece, Golden Age tuning gears and mother-of-pearl "fluer-di-lis" headstock inlay.

This mandolin may well be the best sounding right-out-of-the-box mandolins I've played. Here's what Ben says about it's sound; "...nice crisp but deep sound to it, and you can really hear the woody/boxy tone to it.It is extremely responsive and has nice poppy tone from light to hard picking". I couldn't have described it better myself.

This is a brand new instrument, s/n 103 and label was signed on 01/22/2012. Includes Travelite case. Trades considered.
